I can't find anywhere where to download FRED.  It supposedly comes with the game????  I didn't buy the disk, I just got it from GOG.com.  Please help!

The FRED.exe should be in your main FS2 folder (C:\Games\Freespace2\ or maybe something ridiculous like C:\Program Files\Freespace2\)

However, what you need is FRED Open, since it has a bunch of new features that everyone uses and retail (Original) FRED and FS may not work on your machine anyway. They don't work properly on mine.

The latest official release of FRED and FS2 Open can be downloaded here. Please read the directions in the thread (sorry if I come off like a dick but a lot of people don't and then have to fix their install).

If you have a semi-new PC you'll also want the MediaVPs here. Again, make sure you put everything in the right place.

You don't come off as a dick at all   I'm a dumbass though cause I found it, it just came with the game.  I had no idea, I thought it was a separate program.  Thanks for those links though.  I'll give 'em a go.

looks like I already have all that stuff too.  I couldn't find FRED in that first link that you gave me but I already have FSO version 3.6.12 or whatever so Im pretty sure I'm set.  Thanks

Make sure you do the walkthrough you get if you look a the Help Menu in FRED. It really does teach you about 90% or more about what you need to do to get started making missions in FRED. You can tell the people who didn't do it, they're the ones always asking very simple questions in the FRED forum.
