Interplay release Freespace on Steam. Here the Link. No Price yet but I think its around 10 Euro / 10 Dollar:

If it's like the Descent 3 release, it's set up so that you can automatically play multi with other Steam users.  I don't know the particulars beyond that though.

They could also have chosen the actual FS1 cover art for the thumbnail image, but you can't get everything I suppose.
