Downloading now. Always good to see new releases.
[16:57] <CommanderDJ> What prompted the decision to split WiH into acts?
[16:58] <battuta> it was long, we wanted to release something
[16:58] <battuta> it felt good to have a target to hit
[17:00] <RangerKarl> not sure if talking about strike mission, or jerking off

  • FRED needs lambdas!
I have no idea what exactly this is going to be about... "Rediculous" can mean mostly anything. DLing and playing, should be a nice break from coding Java all day.

[EDIT] I won't be incredibly harsh here unless this breaks something... but why for the love of Yog-Sothoth are you using ships and weapons.tbl instead of .tbm? You've already said this requires SCP, so there's no reason to clutter up the install with such outdated files. (outdated in the sense of using them for mods, not the base install, that is.)

tbms aren't strictly better than tbls.

what if I don't want the retail stuff there cause I'm not using it and I want them out of the way in FRED?

Out of the way in the tbl is better than out of the way in FRED. I just go with the strategy that tbms make the entries more modular -> easier to use in any setting.

But I digress. Again, I don't have a real problem with it unless it breaks something and I haven't tested it yet.

Dude, you can just delete them in the TBL and they'll be out of the way in both.
That was the way to do things before the standardization of Inferno builds, and I still think it's a good idea to get rid of what you don't need.

Agreed, if you're not maintaining total backwards compatibility I'd say there's nothing wrong with a nice clean tbl.

Oh man, I am on mission 6 and I had to stop just to say how awesome this campaign is. It's something else.

You will laugh, you will cry. This campaign is a good time!

I would say more but I must keep playing.

I've only played two missions, but this looks promisingly hilarious. Will play more in the next few days!

For some reason the custom music doesn't play in 3.6.13 builds. :(

Finished the campaign! Nice work.
Spoiler:
I like how the campaign started reasonable and then quickly went crazy. What a ride. Must have been as much fun to make as it was to play.

The Pig Latin translation incident had me laughing the air out of my lungs.

I'm guessing all the voice acting was Ironbeer, nice job. It really makes a difference when devs take that extra effort.

Notible quotes:

I think god just divided by zero.

Galactallica... more hardcore than you (its appearance almost made me roll over laughing)

"We realize we have no chance of actually challenging Galactallica on musical grounds."

Almost anything your squad mate personas say.

Nitpicks(minor things):

The first stage of the briefing for 'Babling fish' contains a voice file with the entire briefing in it.

Squadmates guardian at 1%. Usually guardian at a random low number looks more realistic, but pfft realism. It's a minor thing in campaigns like this.

Death by beamfire in Sparta!

I punished myself by picking an Aries in showdown. Flying around the 'final form' to hit the reactors took awhile. 40min mission... don't you dare die in that one!

Overall comments:

Simple game play, engaging but not overwhelming.

Solid Freding, awkwardness/buggyness was minimal or non-existent.

Wildly entertaining plot (or plothole)

Cool characters, great sense of humor.

JAD has a contender!

I would mention things outside the spoiler, but I think this mission is best played with no expectations. Just play it! I can already say it's one of my favorites.

Hahaha.  A lot of fun!

Spoiler:

Galactallica had me cracking up!  Favorite part for sure.

Only thing I noticed that wasn't well polished was in Container Containment, the transport that gets beamed to death sends its messages after it blew up.

Was the final cutscene supposed to play music?  I got an emergency broadcast signal type sound when it ran.

Pretty sure that was supposed to play.

Spoiler:
Fun campaign. I was like "**** yeah!" when the doom music started playing, great choice of music overall. I couldn't stop laughing when dragonforce started playing and the rave ships opened fire. Even though the voice acting could be dull at some points (MORE EMPHASISM!)

Overall. Good campaign!
