Went to go shoot the SVT-40 today
Learned something rather peculiar about it actually, and potentially dangerous
Now, if I cock the bolt and a bullet is chambered, it may or may not actually go off and fire the round
This originally was thought to be a slam fire situation, however it doesn't discharge any additional rounds of which is sometimes the case for a stuck firing pin
So upon dismantling and putting back together (which didn't fix the problem) I learned that the firearm actually pulls the trigger for you upon first cock, but not for any subsequent shot (thus I don't have to worry about a rapid fire situation)
Now, I figured that if I close the bolt slowly to chamber the round that'd ensure it doesn't go bang when I don't want it to
Unfortunately, that's not the case. See, when I close the bolt slowly, it doesn't close all the way leaving a gap of a few millimeters. If I hit the handle to close it, it'll discharge the firearm
Anyone who handles firearms got any ideas on this? I'm most likely going to take it to the store I bought it from and see what they have to say about it and whether or not it can be fixed, but knowing more about why this takes place would be nice
EDIT: Another thing to note, the firing pin does not jut outside the bore face while it is closing. The gun legit pulls the trigger when it slams or is made to close to the bore chamber
