It's just generally crap quality. Shortly before the warranty (of only one year) expired, I had to send it in. Worst customer service experience I've ever had, they ultimately had it for a month. It was never 100% right when I got it back, odd software errors here and there. A few days ago a 2 ft fall from my bed onto carpet cracked the flimsy plastic case. Now something has gone wrong with the power socket and it won't charge. I last put it away with probably 30% battery, but it won't turn on at all now. And since Lenovo decided they didn't want universal chargers undercutting their insanely overpriced 'genuine' replacements, they went to a proprietary power connector and I don't even have the option of checking just in case it's the cord and not the socket (doubtful but possible - the connector had another cheap plastic part chip off very shortly after getting it, but it was still functional until yesterday). Looking at the socket, it looks like there's internals missing, but I never really looked at it when it was working to be sure it's different now. Definitely WAY looser, but as of yet I haven't found any broken pieces lying around that would have fallen out if that is indeed the case.
1 year warranty on a $1100 laptop. A month of which I didn't have it for VERY stupid customer service reasons. This is really the main reason. I bought this thing because the price was pretty good for the specs and it's pretty much the only one I've seen in the last 5 years that still has a trackpoint. Not worth it. Next one will be MSI or Asus or something like that. Or I'll just go back to my almost 10 year old thinkpad that still works other than being pretty outdated specs wise. Struggles with HD video and busy flash things. Also still has XP loaded.
