Re: What are you playing right now?
Anthem - While the content is mostly "been there, done that" (at least until the Cataclysm arrives), I still get enjoyment out of the occasional Stronghold. Too bad I lost most of the people that wanted to check it out to The Division 2 lately (which I just can't stand; tried it and found it repulsive)

Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus - ... is what you get when you cross the dungeon exploration of Darkest Dungeon with the combat from Shadowrun Returns; without the individually destinctive features of either, but on a clock. It tries to be a bit XCom-light but doesn't have a depth or variety. However they nailed the atmosphere of an Adeptus Mechanicus (dogmatic cyborg tech-worshippers) vs. Necrons (feudalistic aliens which turned themselves into robot-analogues and still belive they are entitled to the galaxy) - it is oppressive, function- and results-oriented.
Soundtrack added to my writing playlists.

Pillars of Eternity 2 - Someone at Obsidian really misjudged the appeal of Eder... or is that just me?

Pillars of Eternity 2 - Someone at Obsidian really misjudged the appeal of Eder... or is that just me?

I tossed him aside when I finally got it over with the sidequest about the dead brother, the only thing is that he probably would have known about where to find the next location for the reincarnated guy.
Also I'll probably toss aside the chanter nerd when I'm done with the Endless Path in favour of the druid since now I'm in Twin Elms and probably will need him for story stuff.

Regarding Eder: I did as well; and, honestly, there is actually a logic to him being back ... with inciting incident Pillars of Eternity 2 being his presumed dead god coming back to life and wrecking your castle from the first game.
Still, if I remebered all my story choices, or the "choose your Pillars of Eternity results"-option ingame not quickly offering me up story options I never seen before, I would use the option to rewrite my choices on the spot.

No, it is not ... originally. Eothas is just able to possess it because it is made out of the soul-conducting Adra-material.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Guys, spoilers!
I still have to finish the game.

I'm getting around to finish the Endless Path, I'm at level 13. After that I'll probably see what's the fuss in the starting area again.
I'm not sure if to kill the Sky Dragon or not and I sicnerely donpt like that half of Berath's quest is basically going on a killing spree (the other half was fine), the indecision is part of why I'm doing sidequests far away from Twin Elms now.

It's literally the first minute of Pillars 2 - and was in the marketing, so I don't think "Holy Spoilers, Batman!" applies.

Level 13 sounds a bit low to finish the Endless Paths. You might want to save at the end of every level now... just so you don't loose too much progress in the event of stronger opposition.

Note that the quests you get from the communing with the gods in Twin Elms might not be as straight foward as you think. Consider the god you are working with before you comply their directions.

It did sound a lot like a late game spoiler for the first installment.
Also I referred to me being at the 13th level of the path, not being at level 13 myself.
Even then I quicksave basically every five minutes and use a saveslot for all suspicious circumstances (or just reload and create one...), also my reaction to what was after the slope in level 15 was a resounding "NOPE!"
I reloaded the save, got away and did a couple of tasks, got some more info out of Grieving Mother and killed Raedric, AGAIN.
Also got around to enchant some armors and weapons, swap around charms, equipment spells, etc. and went on to Craighold but it seems stupidly combat-heavy so I don't know if go on with that or see if I can do something else.

Re: What are you playing right now?

I get it, esspecially since the death of Saint Waidwen/Eothas is credited by some NPCs for launching the Hollowborn crisis, as the two correlate. Eoathas returning however represents a clean break from the events of Pillars 1, although some late game revelations regarding the Thanos, the Leaden Key, and your Watcher's previous lives might heavily influcence what you think of that event. (The pacing of Pillars 1's story is mess.)

went on to Craighold but it seems stupidly combat-heavy so I don't know if go on with that or see if I can do something else.

The DLC content is a frontloaded with combat but the story content of the second DLC is really interesting, big picture wise.

Re: What are you playing right now?
This morning, I did something I haven't done despite probably hundreds of hours of attempts: I finished a grand campaign in a Total War game.

I beat Rome II: Total War as the Seleucid Dynasty. Silver Shield Pikemen + Persian Heavy Archers + a few Indian Armored Elephants + a few artillery = an unstoppable death ball. One or two of those, and a few armies made of trash troops to keep order, and you can just sweep through almost any other faction.

So many times, the Lusitani, Macedon, Sparta threw full armies of super-heavy infantry or pikemen at me, and I just demolished them utterly.

Ohh, nice. Farthest I ever got was Rome 1 getting stuck in a decades-long stalemate as red Romans against the blue and green ones in North Africa and Eastern Europe respectively. If I had that save I'd probably try to finish it.

Currently playing Stellaris (custom GTA empire). Every time I boot up a new game I always think to myself "this is it, this is where I make it to the end", then an update/mod comes out and I restart.

What's your set-up?

Meanwhile in Pillars of Eternity 2, I got my character and my party killed by daring the God of Entrophy to "bring it". Too bad that's not worth an achievement.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Pillars of Eternity
So, turns out that the Adra Dragon is very much like Firkraag in that abusing certain spells (or in this case the paralysis scrolls) and some kiting (in this case to kill all the escort she has so she doesn't get healed) is the only way to have even a slight chance. I also did the quest to get the anti-dragon ability.
That one-hit-kill-the-whole-party dragon breath is what makes the combat really difficult as even with the scrolls of paralysis there still a chance the dragon will be able to kill, grievously maim and/or knock down all of your party. Even after getting it down it took me three tries to succeed.
I've also did all the party quests, now only Craighold, the battle for Caed Nua and the White March content remain other than the bounties.

Re: What are you playing right now?
Meanwhile in Pillars of Eternity 2, did I mention that I found a talking sword that seems to get ... aroused by using it? Or that it sets you on a quest to find it former owner with all the intensity of stalking ex?

It is going to turn out to be an evil artifact, isn't it?

EDIT: Quest finished
Spoiler:
Turns out the soul in the sword wasn't evil but rather terrified of the prospect that it might go on to exist, even if it users would die. Finding the original owner of the sword let to a delightfully akward conversation which framed this like a love triangle.
In response to the fear of the soul in the sword, and the guilt of the original owner (she had a hand in creating the sword by combining Cypher-skills with animancy), I decided the best course of the action would be to have my Eothas priestess gently exorcise the soul from the sword.
