Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
that's right
as more and more of the armour gets blown to pieces, the sceleton of the ship will come through
the question i'm still elaborating at this point is just how small i can make the individual armour parts

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
Parts of this skeleton will be shown after some part of the ship blew up to hell? I'm not fully understand how it's supposed to work. If exactly as I imagined, this is cool!

I've seen this kind of thing in Wing Commander Saga. Particularly if I recall the Kilrathi freighters, you can make a real mess of them.

Make the subobjects fly off as Legos, and you will be a modeling god.

Hey, that could perhaps be a fun side project for him. An actual lego ship that breaks into pieces. :)

We've got Lego Star Wars and such being released as games, Lego Freespace? :D

Well after watching the Lego Movie the idea of a lego freespace (Lego anything atm) would be AWESOME!
Question fightermedic: have you considered doing one of those big lego battleship things you showed images of in an earlier page or were they more showing the many possibilities?
Too many ideas.....not enough FREDing time!

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
considering the insane amount of work this corvette turns out to be, it's rather unlikely i will tackle such an enormous ship in the near future, i'd guess it would take half a year or more to do it properly if you can not work on it full time

also: splitting up the armour parts is booooooooooooooring, *gosh*
it's time to finish this damn ship, it's really getting annoying by now

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
Shouldn't there be any cables, greebles and other stuff under the destroyed armor plates? All that You have is cool, but I realised that the interior of the ship is pretty empty.

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
i see where you are coming from, but sometimes you have to know when to stop, both from a performance and a modeling-effort point of view
that said, i think it does look more empty than it actually is on these screens, and furthermore 99% of the time either only little parts of the armour will be destroyed which will make it look a lot more solid, or the player would not even have time to notice the details
but yea, there's always someting more you can do

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
It's great to see you trying to push the boundaries on how destructible that ship is, its a great idea also! Too bad it requires such a huge amount of extra work as I'd love to see things like this, big and small, across many ships and objects.

Your newest ship also looks promising!
I'm all about getting the most out of games, so whenever I discover something very strange or push the limits, I upload them here:

"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress to more pain."
