the endless paths of modeling lego ships
All ships in this thread have been inspired or are outright copies of lego models i found on the internet
you can find inspiring lego spaceship models yourself at places like this (be prepared for some serious awesomeness):
http://www.flickr.com/groups/1086756@N21/pool/with/3178388548/#photo_3178388548

If you want to use any of my work, you have every right to change it in any way you like, and redistribute it wholly or parts of it as you wish
Furthermore there is no need for credit of any form, just take whatever you need
If somebody has need for any of the development files, like blender files or uncompressend and higher resolution textures, just give me a call and they'll be yours

(P3D links are using much smaller .jpgs as textures and are meant for first impression only!)
These are the ships based on lego models that i've created myself:

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
You've been quite the prolific modeler, Mr. fightermedic; congratulations.

A point of criticism: Neither the drone nor the fighter really look that "Shivan", in my opinion. Besides the dorsal curved spikes on the drone, they both look more at home in the Terran fleet.
"We have now reached the point where every goon with a grievance, every bitter bigot, merely has to place the prefix, 'I know this is not politically correct, but...' in front of the usual string of insults in order to be not just safe from criticism, but actually a card, a lad, even a hero. Conversely, to talk about poverty and inequality, to draw attention to the reality that discrimination and injustice are still facts of life, is to commit the sin of political correctness. Anti-PC has become the latest cover for creeps. It is a godsend for every curmudgeon and crank, from fascists to the merely smug."

no, random find on the internet
it's amazing, there is enough cool stuff out there to fill a lifetime of modeling, hence the thread title

@Lepanto: agreed, they probably aren't going to be the most shivan looking models ever, but i don't think they are terribly wrong either

The original lego model reminds me of the GTF Claymore, from INFR1.

Nice model, quite a weird looking shape but at the same time a remarkable refreshing design.
I've never had any lego models, now I think I should have asked for some when kid.

I agree. I like all those fins and small details you are adding! Nice job! Did you already think what specie/faction is your frigate meant for?

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
I think the main thing that keeps it from looking Shivan is the uniformity from fore to aft. If the spine weren't quite so straight and the length of the side panels less uniform, it'd look plenty Shivan. I'm thinking with a bit of a morphing it could look like the hate-child of the Rakshasa and the Demon, but with the long thin spikes from the Cain.

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
That's a great job! Although the design is complex all elements are very neat. I'm looking forward to seeing it textured!

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
To be honest... The frigate doesn't look shivan. Even a little. There are planety of spikes and other shivan stuff, but the main shape is definitely not shivan. Reminds me a second incarnation of Stratcomm's heavy AWACS by DE Team, rather than new shivan warship of death. Maybe some jammer, big freighter, subspace perturber... Whatever.

They should be all the bits of the ship broken apart, that way it looks like breaking a Lego kit.
