Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
nope, everything is modelled by hand and changed as i see fit, although those last models are pretty damn close to the original i suppose

Indeed they are! Anyway I found this tool for blender on a German forum (http://www.blendpolis.de/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=37706&p=425383#p425353). I haven't tried it yet, but it looks pretty promising... it may be interesting for you.

and here is one more ship, a space superiority fighter this time, the devil
maybe one more model and then i will have to texture them all
i hate texturing
maybe two more models before texturing?  :doubt:

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
thank you, i have added a third gun though, as i felt 2 would be a bit lacking for a space superiority fighter, and doubling the fire rate via 2 firepoints for each gun a bit over the top
i'm going to handle the racoon and raptor's guns this way though

I remember a certain space theme lego set that I used to love when I was younger. Thought I'd share this, maybe you could make use out of this and perhaps turn it shivan?

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
i could see that one working, too bad i didn't know of it when i was doing the Imp, i guess it would have been better than my current attempt
ah well, too late for that, mabe someday i'll do a second shivan drone (or someone else does)

anyway, here is what i've got of the interceptor so far:

the rear is finished, the arms remain
like this, it could even work as a medium bomber

edit: p3d updated, these arms are killing me, has been quite the pain to get them as far

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
I'm liking these models a lot and look forward to playing around with them. Also I was going to say they would work really well with team colours, but then I re-read the first post. :P Keep up the good work! :)

thanks ssmit132
speaking of team colors:
texturing ships in almost all grey is odd, did a little bit of work on the raptor today:

Re: the endless paths of modeling lego ships
this model shows quite well that with a good concept to start with and a bit of practice even a beginner like myself can do something quite decent
the lego model this is based on is just too cool and detailed to completely fail in the modeling part
first ingame tests and playing around with color settings:
